Marie Update

A few people have asked about Marie and her pup, and I wanted to reassure the public that she is still amongst the living. Mark had called around to a few shelters to see if they'd take her, but every place was filled over capacity. We were kind of at a standstill. Apparently our inaction caused Marie to become suicidal, because she decided to bite to Director as he was walking out of his home one morning. Not a good person to bite. He naturally was pretty pissed and said that he wanted her put down that day. We didn't really have a backup plan to offer, so Nate (an old volunteer who now lives in Parramos) agreed to take them to his house to buy us a little more time. Marie and Osito have been living there for a week now, and while they might not like being kept in a garage all day, at least they're alive and getting fed regularly. Now we're trying to find folks from NPH and town to adopt them. I was talking to Eduardo, the taxi driver from Parramos who usually drives us all home from Antigua when we go there at night, and he said he's like to adopt the baby. He has two young daughters at home who I know would spoil him, so I'm happy about that. Hopefully that works out, then we just have to figure out what to do with Marie. I'll let you know what happens in the end!
